Nia Sapphire's Game Review: Makai Senki Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten

So the game that I'm gonna review now is:

Now you will learn the awesomeness of sardines.

A sardine obssesed vampire, a loyal werewolf servant, a girl who thinks everything is her dream, a little girl who wants to be the final boss, a boy who is a son of a president, a greedy angel who steals money, and many other more nonsensical characters.

What it's about:

Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten is the fourth game in the Turn Based Strategy series Disgaea by Nippon Ichi. The game revolves around Valvatorez—a vampire who forbade himself from drinking human blood after he made a promise 400 years ago—and his campaign of reformation against the corrupt government of the Netherworld. With him is Fenrich, his loyal demon wolf servant, and Fuka Kazamatsuri, a deceased middle-school student who was sent to the Netherworld and should have been turned into a Prinny, but because of budget cutbacks just had a Prinny hat slapped on her instead.
Other characters include Vulcanus, the Angel of Avarice; Emizel, the son of the Netherworld President; and Desco, a monster girl whose ambition is to become the Final Boss. Axel returns as the warden of Hades and Valvatorez' boss.Features include true high-resolution sprites (with the option of switching to the traditional low-res sprites), new Magichange commands and the ability to use a pirate ship to invade and plunder other players' games. So here's the cast:

Yeah, he's a vampire but he's not an emo.

This is Valvatorez, the main character of Disgaea 4 and a vampire. A long time before the game's events, he had been known as "The Tyrant" due to how powerful he was, but following a certain incident, he refused to consume human blood, meaning his powers were depleted rapidly, and now he's a lowly Prinny Instructor in Hades. However, he doesn't regret his decision, and plans to regain his former strength.

I'm beginning to sense people making twilight jokes.

This is Fenrich, a cunning werewolf and Valvatorez' attendant who has the utmost respect for him. He's willing to do whatever it'll take to see his master return to his former glory.

 This is Kazamatsuri Fuuka, a middle-school student who died and was sent to the Netherworld. She was supposed to become a Prinny, but due to how many Prinnies were already there, she just had a hat and jacket slapped on her instead. She is under the impression that this is all a dream and believes she can do whatever she wants because of it.

 This is Emizel, the only son of the current Netherworld president. He's the leader of the Abaddon, a special assassination force that works directly for his father. He's not aware that he's only riding his father's coattails. Apart from being the president's son, he's also The Grim Reaper.

 This is Vulcanus, spoiler: or Artina, an angel from Celestia who's come to the Netherworld for her own reasons. She is a greedy angel who steals money from demons in Netherworld.

This is Desco, a cute monster girl created to become the ultimate weapon that would destroy the world. Her official name is Final Weapon: Death/Extermination Submersible Combat Organism.

My Thoughts:

Oh my, what a great game. It's really different than any games that I have known. So many lampshading, and ridiculous things. And the cast are pretty likeable. I can feel the fun of playing this game, even though I didn't play it, just watch the playthrough in Youtube. Now it has a manga, but sadly it is still not published, yet... What disappoints me  is the manga has some ecchi Fuuka fanservice scenes  =_=


My Favourite Character:

I love Valvatorez. He's the most likeable and inspirational character I've ever saw, and everyone agrees, even his voice actor. He's the best main character in Disgaea series compared to Laharl, Adell and Mao. I can't believe it if anyone hates him.
